The School
Services Program provides consultation and
direct service to students with developmental
disabilities throughout Western Massachusetts. Services
include:
- Inclusion Consultation – Available
to area schools seeking to include students
in Pre-K through 12th grade in general
education classes and after school settings.
- Community
Attainment & Transition (CAT)
Program – For students between
the ages of 16-22 who are interested
in a practical, experiential transition-focused
education that offers preparation for
increased independence in adulthood.
Students receive support and training
in small groups within classroom and
community settings and also have opportunities
for individualized community living,
work and social activities.
- Community-
Based Education (CBE) – For
students between the ages of 16-22 who
are interested in pursuing work, training
for independent living, social, recreation
and leisure, experiences in a variety
of community settings. Program
services are individually designed and
support is typically provided on a ratio
of one staff to one student.
- Transition
Evaluation & Consultation – Available
to area schools, families and service providers. Evaluations
include adaptive behavior scales, transition
planning inventories, functional vocational
evaluation, career interest inventories
and person centered planning.
Eligibility & Referral – Any
school district within Western Massachusetts
may contract with The United Arc for any of the
above services for one or more students. Family
members may wish to independently purchase transition
evaluation and consultation. For more information

The United
Arc’s
2006 Summer Vocational Exploration Program
Program
Dates: July 3 – August
11, 2006
This summer, The United
Arc is pleased to be offering summer work and
volunteer opportunities to students between
the ages of 16 and 22, with varying levels
of ability. Our innovative, six-week program
is designed to meet each student’s
need for gaining practical, hands-on experience
at stipend-based job or volunteer sites in the
community.
The United
Arc’s Summer
Vocational Exploration Program Features:
Vocational
Interest Inventory for each student to determine
personal preferences
Opportunities
for each student to develop social connections with their co-workers and to
experience shared responsibility through team work
Placement
for each student at one or more volunteer and/or stipend based work sites in
Franklin County and surrounding communities.
A
1:5 Supervisor to Student ratio with the ability to accept students needing
1:1 support with support provided by sending district.
Tracking
and documentation of work relating to students IEP goals and benchmarks and
the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Final
Report on experience, including a Vocational Evaluation to schools, employers
and families.
Tuition for the 2006 Summer Program
is $3,750.00 per student and includes all features
listed above.
