Arc vocational services offer a variety of supports to new or returning job seekers and to businesses interested in reliable employees.  These services include:

  • Vocational Evaluation & Assessment – To help assess the individual’s interest, aptitudes, work skills, work habits, work tolerance, preferred work environment and vocational goals.
  • Work Adjustment – To help an individual gain additional skills that support his/her vocational goals.  This might include resume development, training in interview skills, and job exploration through volunteerism or short-term job sampling.
  • Job Support Services - Job development, job placement and job coaching services which help an individual find and maintain employment.  Services may include identifying available jobs, contacting potential employers and setting up job interviews, conducting job analysis and assisting with reasonable accommodations, providing ongoing employer/employee follow-up and facilitating advancement opportunities.

Eligibility & Referral - Adults seeking vocational support are typically referred through MRC or DMR.  Employment experience and vocational preparation is available to teens and young adults who participate in special education programs under School Services.   For more information about Adult Vocational Services contact Mary Heafy, Director of Adult Services at The United Arc, 413-774-5558 x 1020 or email: maryheafy@unitedarc.org.  For inquiries about MRC referrals contact Barbara Kuhns, Job Developer at The United Arc, 413-774-5558 x 1026.
