Family Support Services
The United Arc of Franklin and Hampshire Counties

The United Arc provides a flexible array of services for families that care for or include a family member with mental retardation or other developmental and intellectual disabilities.  Primary services include:

  • General Family Support – Provided to families caring for a family member who meets eligibility criteria with the Department of Mental Retardation (DMR.).  Service options include case management, financial assistance to pay for goods or services that benefit the individual with the disability, educational and service advocacy, family networking, family support groups, periodic training workshops, information and referral, and publication of the Family Support Update.
  • DOE/DMR Services – Longer-term intensive level of family support and case management provided to families caring for a child under the age of 18, with the intent of preventing residential placement of the child.
  • DSS Transition Project – Preparation for adulthood and transitional services for teens who are in the process of leaving foster care or who have been under the auspices of the Department of Social Services(DSS).
