Community-Based Education (CBE)
The United Arc of Franklin and Hampshire Counties

The CBE Program is designed for students between the ages of 14-22 who are interested in a community-based educational program that offers individualized instruction and support.  Staff to student ratio is typically 1:1 or 2:1 based on student need.

The CBE Program offers work, recreation and leisure and post-secondary education, independent living and social experiences in community settings.

These experiences include:

  • Internships and paid employment at local businesses
  • Memberships and recreational activities at area recreational programs, parks and nature preserves, and fitness clubs
  • Travel training on local transportation systems
  • Health and sex education utilizing the services of local clinics
  • Training in practical skills of independent living through overnight stays and cooking classes at the Real Life Learning Laboratory
