Welcome to The United Arc

The United Arc provides an array of flexible services for individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. During fiscal year 2013, The United Arc provided services to more than 900 individuals and families from 47 communities in Franklin and Hampshire counties and in surrounding communities. We are pleased to be serving citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 62 years!

Music Therapy

With Michael Williams-Russel, MT-BC

Saturdays, September 20th - November 22nd

(No session on 10/18 or 10/25)

Join us for a fun and supportive music therapy group led by certified
music therapist Michael Williams-Russell (Rusty). Music therapy
addresses the physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs
of individuals. In this group, participants will come together to sing,
play instruments, and dance while addressing these needs.
Through musical involvement in this therapeutic context, participants’
abilities are strengthened and transferred to other parts of
their lives.

Every child with a disability who receives special education services must have an Individual Education Program. This workshop takes parents step-by-step through the development of the IEP including how to articulate a vision, using evaluations to write measurable annual goals and measuring their child's progress.

Music Therapy costs $5.00 per weekly session. Scholarships are
available through The United Arc.

Providing Behavioral Supports
To Individuals with Autism

Presented by Jason Litto, Family Support manager at Community Resources for People with Autism.
Monday, November 17th
5 - 8 pm

We will discuss the strengths and challenges often associated with individuals on the autism spectrum. The workshop will look at:
 how to assess the intent behind "challenging behaviors",
 strategies that utilize individual strengths and learning styles to teach desired behaviors,
 how a person's quality of life impacts their well being and influences their behavior.
Friends, family members, and support persons are encouraged to attend.
